Sept. 28-30th, 2007 Crowne Plaza San Diego (Formerly Red Lion Hanalei) - Guest of Honor: Larry Niven

Meet the Guests

On Friday night, mingle with our panel participants and enjoy cocktails (cash bar) and appetizers/desserts. Pianist Susan Simpson will be playing the themes from great science fiction films.

Concert

We will have a small concert after the Meet the Guests event. Lynn Maudlin, Eben Brooks, Allision Lonsdale and Moira Stern will perform a variety of folk styles ranging from the medieval days to times yet to be, with a few side trips to the lands of fantasy. Moira is an exceptional harpist.

Iron Hack

Welcome to Fiction Stadium, where airman Conje pits Iron Hacks from different schools of fiction against each other to determine who is the ultimate Iron Hack! Secret ingredients provided by the audience are woven into an improvised story, each Hack passing it maliciously on to the next with unresolvable cliffhangers and embarrassing segues. This event gets funnier every year. Don't miss it!

Mad Science Faire

Each year, we hold a competition for deranged researchers, disturbed inventors, and engineers with a screw loose. Do you have an Infernal Device bubbling away in your basement? Have you Meddled With Something That Man Was Not Meant To Know? Bring it to the con and put it on display in the con suite. (Just remember, all live specimens must have a Conjecture membership.)

Masquerade

Update July 8th! For those of you who have been scheming how to make your latest creation a winning one, now we have your incentives. PRIZES!!!

In honor of our Guest of Honor, Larry Niven, there will be a $50 CASH prize for the best alien costume based on Larry's work. We will also respect all other aliens with a $30 gift certificate to Mysterious Galxy Books (sponsored by the San Diego Sci-Fi/Meetup) for the best alien costume from a published source other than Mr. Niven.

Traditionally, Conjecture has had the competition divided into Child, Novice and Master Class as our Masquerade while small draws from a very talented pool of costumers who compete at Comic-Con, Westercon, and Worldcon. And at the same time, entries have been inspired by a favorite panel: Costuming from Your Closet.

Open Filking

The folk music of fandom! After the masquerade, bring your guitar/lute/mandolin and join the folks singing about starships, dragons, AIs and swords.
